Since the practice was established in 2002, the work of WILLIAM TOZER architecture & design
has been featured in a number of publications, including The Architects’ Journal, Grand Designs
magazine, Monocle, and The Times. A project was nominated for a Hackney Design Award
in 2004. In 2006 another project received an award from the Ealing Civic Society and in 2008
a project was nominated for a Camden Design Award. Projects have been repeatedly featured
in the London Open House programme, and in 2006 the practice was included on the first shortlist
for the Young Architect of the Year Award.
Architecture is understood by Tozer as the physical manifestation of ideas through space and form.
Alongside built practice, Tozer has worked as part-time lecturer in design at the Canterbury
School of Architecture, and has written prolifically on architecture and design for a number of
magazines and journals, including Detail and the Sydney-based publication Monument. He has
also delivered lectures at the RIBA and City University, appeared on crit juries at the Bartlett and
East London University, and has organised a number of architectural exhibitions. Teaching and
writing are utilised as opportunities to reflect upon his practice in relation to a wider cultural context.
Conversely, his practice engages with and contributes to this context.
The work of WILLIAM TOZER architecture & design is currently the subject of doctoral research
at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
