The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning through Design (CETLD) is a HEFCE-funded partnership between the University of Brighton, the Royal College of Art, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Aims

The aim of CETLD is to enhance learning and teaching through research that brings together resources and expertise from Higher Education and collections-based partners.

  • Academic research and evaluation


Objectives

  • Use new technologies in learning and teaching
  • Provide equipment, facilities and training
  • Provide flexible and interactive spaces
  • Provide access to virtual and actual resources across the partnership
  • Share knowledge with the wider community
  • Initiate and fund projects to advance our understanding of how students learn through the practice of design and the interpretation of designed objects
  • Provide ‘time to think’ through funded projects
  • Support lifelong learning in design
